The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the expectant parent before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.
Birth is something I am passionate about in general and I believe that having the right support before, during, and after the experience can make all the difference. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with expectant parents who might be doing it for the first time, those who have already experienced it before but wish to have a positive experience the next time around, or even those who are just looking to have that presence that reminds them that everything is going as it should. It would be an honor to serve you you during your pregnancy, birth and beyond.
